Valentine's Day in GIF Format (For My Single Gals)

Thursday, February 14, 2013

I cook. I bake. I golf. I was a cheer captain in college.
I won a state award for my work in Chemistry.
I'm a part of a philanthropic organization.
I KNOW THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A FIRST DOWN AND A TOUCHDOWN.
But, I have no Valentine.

My grandmother doesn't love me because I'm the only unmarried granddaughter.
You think I'm joking? #blacksheep

According to my best friend and her husband,  men are intimidated by me!
????

Certainly not me.

I die.
You rly think so?

Knew it.

Mr. Big wouldn't be intimidated by me.
Why do you have to be so fictional?

Nm I know you're in my heart.

Waittt a minute. I know why it's good to be single...
Prince Harry is single!

Oh you see me?

(I'll give you something to see.)

A lady never kisses and tells.

Pick me. Pick me. Pick me.

TIARAS FOREVAAAARRR.

Royal Wedding. Autumn. You're all invited.

Wait. HOLD ON.
I seem to be forgetting something....

History! Yes, I'm forgetting that women have worked for
ages to tell us that our worth doesn't come from men!
And it doesn't come from the diamonds or chocolate we get from them (or a partner)
on this one single day out of the month that no one even knows how to spell.

If you're single on Valentine's Day, let it be a reminder that you are
F   R   E   E.  This is your life. YOURS!
You have no reason not to enjoy it!
You are PERFECT.

Don't get me wrong: I love men. Really love.
This isn't a "Let's bash men V-Day post," because that's
unkind and it wouldn't represent how I feel.
I'm indifferent about V-Day.

This is simply about remembering that this is the 21st century
where you can define your own fairy tale.
Get married young? old? Stay single forever?
It all works. You call the shots, you set the pace.
You are empowered. Let that sink in.

You can travel and explore the world...

You can discover new talents & learn new skills...
You can have a career and get a thumbs up from the boss!
Or, you could just be a boss!
So.many.options.

What really matters are our hearts, souls, and our minds.
Maybe we could focus on being good people,
helping others, challenging our minds, and becoming the type of
people Sister Mary Clarence would be proud of.

"Preach"
Then when we least expect it, our baby daddies will come
along to share these wonderful lives that WE'VE created. And,
we'll enjoy and appreciate the lives they've carved out too.

Who run the world?

((Enjoy the day if you're celebrating it with someone special!!))

  7. This is the best blog post I have ever seen. I wish I saw this on Valentine's day! As a single woman in my 20's who is earning a Phd, I can't tell you how frustrating it is that people pity me for being single, but won't give me props for trying to get an education and build a career.

Contrary to what most magazines, books, and movies tell you...It is possible for a woman to be happy and single. And like, you, I am not a man-hater...I love men :) but I love me too!! :)
